VerdaDog chooses plant-based food because it is rich in fiber, easily digestible, and contains fewer common allergens than traditional meat-based food. Plant-based food means that the nutrients, such as proteins, carbohydrates, and fats, come from vegetables, fruits, and other plant sources instead of animal ingredients.
Since the food does not contain chicken, beef, or fish, it lacks the most common dog allergens, making it hypoallergenic. This is beneficial for sensitive dogs!
In addition, the production of plant-based food results in much lower CO2 emissions than traditional meat-based food. This is because the ingredients are consumed lower down the food chain by the end-user, leading to less energy loss and CO2 emissions.
Therefore, plant-based food is good for both animals and the environment.
Yes, our food is suitable for all adult dogs, of every breed and size. However, we recommend adjusting the portion size to your dog's weight and activity level, so that they receive exactly the right amount of nutrition. It is important to transition to new food gradually over 14 days, so that your dog's digestion can calmly adapt to the new food. This applies to every food transition, regardless of type or brand, and thus largely prevents temporary digestive problems such as diarrhea and a sensitive stomach or upset.
Mix the VerdaDog food with the old food proportionally every two days, according to the schedule below. Do you notice that your dog is having trouble with the transition, for example, a sensitive stomach? Then feel free to take a little more time for each step. Every dog is unique, with some possibly needing a little more time than others.
Yes, our kibbles are developed in accordance with FEDIAF guidelines and are therefore complete nutrition. FEDIAF (the European pet food industry federation) determines which nutrients dogs need and in what quantities. If a food meets these guidelines, it contains all the nutrients your dog needs, without the need for supplementary feeding.
